My clips are broken on my finepix camera battery compartment, how do I modify / repair this?

The clip on the camera side broke off, now the batteries are not able to stay in place as the latch of the battery compartment does not close.
Did you have the same problem, if so what did you do to get the camera to work again.

I use a rubber band, not very tech., local Dealer coiuld not help. This is a recurring problem w/Nikon coolpix.kno
