Are alternative batteries for the Canon IXUS 970 IS safe for the camera?

Hi,

I wouldn’t risk buying a non genuine Canon Battery. Honestly, you don’t really need more batteries…maybe just an extra one if you’re doing lots of heavy camera use…but not more than that.

The Ixus 970 IS (SD890 IS) has an excellent battery life for an ultra compact Ixus camera (up to 320 shots per full charge), so I don’t see why you would really need an extra one at this stage.

These types of batteries (Lithium) can be charged at any time, so if you give it a top up charge before you need the camera, you probably won’t have a problem with the battery draining on you.
