Problem: Is it the batteries, the charger, or the digital camera?
I have a Canon digital camera (2 years old), brand new low-discharge rechargeable AA batteries, and a Sony charger (2 years old).
I charge the 4 batteries until the little light on the charger goes out (a few hours), then put one set in the camera. Nearly immediately (like a few days of hardly any use) the camera says "change the batteries". In goes the new set, and the same thing happens.
I can't figure out if it's the batteries, the camera or the charger. I'm not sure what to do! I thought a new set of low-discharge batteries would do it. I hate to buy a new charger, but perhaps that's the problem.
Any ideas would be welcome.

ofcourse it has a green light that says its fully charged. what i mean is, before the first use..dont you guys ever heard people having to charge cellphone batteries for atleast 7hrs even though the green is light..i was just making sure if its the same with cameras..pssh

What does it mean on a rechargeable battery for a digital camera when it says "1050mAh" or "800Ah"?
Does the higher number on a rechargeable (Li-ion) battery mean it will last longer that one with a lower number? Please explain, as I want to buy a generic rechargeable battery for my Canon G10 digital camera that's a lot cheaper that the Canon version.
The trouble is that the more expensive Canon battery has "1050Ah" printed on it, while the generic has "800Ah" (or something like that).

powershot a710 is usb separate from AV out?
I plan to buy a canon powershot a710 is.
I'd like to know if the usb cable is a standard one, or a special one mixing usb and AV connectivity.
(I bought a Nicon coolpix recently for my daughter and found out that it was using a custom cable to provide usb and AV connectivity. if that cable breaks and Nikon does not produce it anymore, then the camera is dead!)
So I don't want to buy the Canon Powershot 710 IS if it also uses a custom USB cable.
