Charging Features
The BC 700 allows you to charge each battery on their own regardless of what type the battery is; this is very handy when you want to only charge one or three batteries so you’re not left with any unused batteries.
A great thing about this charger is that each cell is driven independently, unlike with most low cost chargers which drive cells by pairs or in fours. This ensures that each cell is charged to its maximum capacity before use.
There are 4 modes of charging available; refresh, test, charge, and discharge.
- The Test mode tells you the capacity of a battery prior to charging.
- The Refresh function completely discharges your batteries, and then charges them to their full capacity. This is to be used when you notice that the energy lifespan of your batteries is getting shorter between each charge.
- The Discharge feature fully discharges your batteries to ensure they are operating at their optimum capacity.
Advanced Features
A great analysis of the batteries is provided on the four LED displays, which is controlled via the Display button, allowing you to cycle through various stats such as the batteries current voltage rating and the time of the current charging cycle.
Charging time
The charging time differs depending on the charging current you select, either 200/500/700 mA. The default charge rate is 200mA, this rate is rather slow in comparison to the others taking about 10 hours to charge 2000mAh batteries, but this slower charge prolongs the life of your batteries.
At the end of a charging cycle, it displays the mAh on the LCD panel. This neat feature allows you to know precisely how much of a charge the battery has been given.

The La Crosse Technology BC-700 is an exceptional, versatile battery charger. It is compact and lightweight, making it portable and easy to store. The voltage input goes up to 240v so it is suitable for international travel. There are plenty of sophisticated features which have been incorporated to ensure that you get maximum use out of your rechargeable batteries.
It’s not one of the cheapest chargers on the market, but certainly one of the best, which will pay for itself over time.
